While one part of the Gran Fondo Team Tirol took on the 100-mile route of the RideLondon race, a second team of 5 members participated at the Arlberg Giro the same weekend. The race started at six o'clock under perfect weather conditions. The route was 150 kilometres long and included 2,500 metres of elevation gain. The highlights of the race were the alpine passes Arlberg and Silvretta. As expected, the audience enjoyed a true cycling festival with good weather and great performances from the local heroes Daniela Pintarelli and Andreas Traxl. While Pintarelli was the clear winner in the women's competition, Andreas Traxl only had to let Patrick Hagenaars pass him.
But the Gran Fondo Team Tirol also made a great impression, not only as athletes with Richard Sulzenbacher finishing in 80th and the team in 8th place, but also, and most importantly, as friendly ambassadors for the 2018 UCI Road World Championships, wearing the striking official jersey and chatting with interested fans about this upcoming event in Tirol.
